Across Key Stage One, we encourage children to develop their basic understanding and fluency of number by delivering regular 'Number Ninja' sessions, using the Number Sense Maths programme. During these sessions, the children work on their understanding of the value of numbers up to 20, how to partition them in different ways and their instant recall of addition and subtraction facts within 20.

Once pupils reach Key Stage Two, we continue to develop their fluency in key number and calculation skills through our mental maths scheme. Starting with Bronze, the pupils work their way through each ladder practising the skills until they are confident. When they reach the end of the ladder, they can complete a test to try and earn a badge.
