This week, Year 6 have completed their Bikeability training. They have been taught how to ensure their bikes are road safe and that they wear their helmets correctly. Alongside developing their riding technique, they have been taught key skills for cycling on the road including road positioning, signalling and a basic understanding of the highway code. Most children had the opportunity to apply this to real life: cycling around the local area as part of a small group with an instructor. They were careful to obey the rules of the road, signs and also developed an awareness of other road users.

We are incredibly proud of the children’s application of our school values throughout this training. Showing amazing perseverance and determination to develop and refine the skills and techniques taught while tirelessly cheering each other on to ensure everyone has achieved and made progress. The cold and damp weather has provided an additional challenge this week but the children have confidently overcome it (with the help of a spare pair of socks or shoes).
