The Zones of Regulation is most effective when learners have a chance to apply their skills across the environments where they live, learn, and grow. Since regulation doesn’t happen in isolation, neither should regulation instruction. The consistent language, shared understanding, and dependable practices within The Zones framework give parents/carers and teahcers a way to work together to support childrenw ith their emotional regulation.
Children practice regulation most effectively in their natural environments – home routines, school, and after-school activities. This continuity helps children to begin to recognise their feelings, name their Zones, and draw from strategies across the day.
The Bridge activites below provide information about the learning that is taking place in school and how you can use this learning to support your children at home.
