Centenary Celebrations
On Wednesday 22nd May 2019, Tower Hill Primary School celebrated it's 100th birthday with a whole day of celebrations.
The day started by welcoming past pupils and teachers back to find out how school had changed over the years and many were quite surprised with how different the building is now and everybody commented on the fabulous children that they met along their tour.
Every class has been studying a different decade from the past 100 years and during the tour, our visitors were met with children learning how to jive, children who could tell us all about the moon landing as well as children finding out what life was really like during the war. It was like taking a step back in time!
Every class also came to school dressed appropriately for the decade that they had been studying. We had everybody from World War 1 Soldiers to some very cheeky minions in school.
Over the course of the morning we treated our visitors to some wonderful performances including the whole school reciting a story about Tower Hill through the decades written by Miss Dinsdale and Mrs Cartlidge and some fabulous singing from Mrs Smith's amazing choir.
The morning was rounded off with the Mayor unveiling our commemorative plaque but the day didn't end there! The children then had a wonderful street party and disco on the school field to celebrate this very special event.

During the Day, we read the first entry from the school's original Log Book written by the Headmistress - Miss Alice E Taylor which said:
May 22nd: Have taken charge of the school today. Admitted 139 children when school opened today. Rev. A. M Watson, Mrs Watson and Mr. C Yeoman visited the school during the day....
