Welcome to Skylon 2021-22

What the Children Do
Hi all,
We have had a great start to Year 4 as Skylon Class and I am very excited for what is to come this year! I hope all of your children have enjoyed it as much as the adults in Skylon Class and that you, as parents, feel at ease with how things have gone so far.
Here is some key information that you have hopefully already seen on your welcome letter...
PE Days:
Wednesday and Thursday
The children will need to come to school dressed in their PE kit as there will be no opportunity to get changed at school.
Golden Mile:
Please try to ensure your child has trainers in school everyday for Golden Mile. The more often we can get out to do it, the more chance they have of improving and reaching their next milestone certificate.
Reading at Home/Reading Books:
It is important that the children have their reading books and reading records in school every day as we aim to read with all of the children throughout the week, in school. This process becomes harder when there are reading books and records missing.
We will change the children's reading books as often as needed from the classroom selection. The children will also get the opportunity to visit the school library. We ask children to read a minimum of three times per week.
Times Tables:
At the end of Year 4, all children will be taking part in a times table test, newly enforced by the government. We practise each day when in school, but it will also be highly beneficial if you practise at home. Below are some websites that you might find useful, as well as TTRockstars.
