Harvest Assemblies

NEWS

13th October 2016

Again this year, Tower Hill had not one but two Harvest Assemblies due to the growing number of children at our school.  The morning started with parents joining us to watch Sears, Blackpool, Petronas, Alloa and Eiffel Class' Harvest celebrations.  It started off with all of the children singing 'Harvest Samba'. They then told the story of Tattybogle the Scarecrow. Eiffel Class took the lead with the other classes helping to enhance the story. Sears Class gave a lovely performance of 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' and Blackpool Class were the raindrops beating down on his hat with a song called 'Pitter Patter Pat'. Petronas Class performed a fantastic round all about the snow and Alloa Class sang 'New Beginning' when Tattybogle's stick became a beautiful tree! The celebrations finished with all of the children singing 'Streets of London'. Reverend Jeremy then led us to reflect on how lucky we are and told us how grateful Farnborough Fooodbank would be to receive our generous donations.

Next it was time for Pisa, Spinnaker, Canton, Petrin and Wainhouse Classes to show off their Harvest talents to our parents.  After an introduction by Mrs Tansley, the assembly began again with everyone singing ‘Harvest Samba’.  Canton Class told the story of 'The Enormous Turnip' using actions and the other children helped to enhance this story. Pisa Class gave a lovely rendition of 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' and Spinnaker Class were singing to the seeds with 'Cauliflowers Fluffy'. Petrin Class showed the importance of teamwork with 'Build it High' and Wainhouse finished off the story with a wonderful performance of 'Harvest for the World'. The second celebrations were brought to a close by everyone singing ‘Streets of London’, the words of the song were then used to encourage us all to reflect on how lucky we are.  We then heard how all of your kind donations would be distributed to families in need by Farnborough Foodbank.

Thank you to everyone that donated food, this year we not only filled four tables with donations but we also had some wonderful Harvest collections!! The KS1 winner was Phoebe Jones (Year R) and the KS2 winner was Samuel Beaney (Year 3). We would also like to thank those of you who were able to share in our Harvest celebrations and those who helped to clear up after the scarecrows!  The children were very excited and proud to share their performances with you.
