What the Children Do
On the 8th March, Year 4 visited Winchester Cathedral as part of our Anglo-Saxons History topic. We enjoyed a tour of the cathedral, designing our own shields for King Alfred the Great's army, and sweeping for artefacts in the sand like professional archaeologists.
We loved using chalk to design our own Saxon shields, thinking carefully about what the colours and imagery on the shield would represent. We wanted to strike fear into the hearts of our Viking enemies!
