Story of the Day
To support the children in Year 6's learning about World War Two, we took the children to Bletchley Park to learn all about the UK's main codebreaking team during World War II. The high-level intelligence produced at Bletchley Park gave crucial help to the Allied war effort. It was vital during the Battle of the Atlantic, when the German U-boat submarine fleet sank merchant shipping in an attempt to starve Britain of supplies. One of the reasons for choosing Bletchley Park for this task was its location, being almost equidistant from the vital cities of London, Oxford & Cambridge.
The children had a fantastic day looking at the exhibits, experiencing some codebreaking activities and they even got to touch a real enigma machine!
