Our School Council is made up of 18 children, two from each class from Year 1 to Year 6. Each class selects two representatives who they know will listen well and put forward the views of the whole class.
Early in the school year, the whole school listens to presentations by the children who want to chair the School Council and every child casts their votes to elect the Chair and Vice Chair of the council. This year Taylor from Wainhouse was elected as our School Council Chair and the PowerPoint he prepared for his election campaign can be seen below. Sophie was elected Vice Chair of the council and will be providing vital extra support in helping to organise the School Council, running it if necessary, in the absence of the Chair.
The School Council has regular meetings where they think about, discuss and vote on school issues that directly affect all the pupils at Tower Hill. Last year's Council were recognised with an award from the Speaker of the House of Commons for their efforts to improve the playground environment, particularly in ensuring that quiet areas are available. This year, School Council is busy gathering ideas for its 2017/18 project.
